The HSUS, Humane Society of the United States is not connected in any way to local Humane Shelters. Only 4.5% of the millions of dollars they collect is sent on to actually help shelter dogs. $133 million collected in donations, $27 million paid in salaries, $24 million for educational materials, $11 million for advertising and only 4.5% paid out in grants ($5,985,000).

The ASPCA, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is not connected in any way to local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal shelters. Only less than 10% of the millions of dollars they collect is sent on to actually help shelter dogs. $148 million collected in donations, $39 million paid in salaries, ($614,000 CEO salary) $20 million for advertising and 10% paid out in grants. ($14,800,000)
