Dale Suhre, Unpaid Kennel Manager and Worker Bee
Mary Anne Luke-Suhre, Breeder, Havanese Enthusiast, Queen Bee
We have both had dog companions all of our lives. We started formal obedience training in the 1980's when we purchased two German Shepherd Dogs. We have trained several German Shepherds to their Companion Dog titles, 4 Companion Dog Excellent titles, and one trained through Utility, although she was unable to earn the title due to her age and inability to jump. Two of our German Shepherds are registered Therapy Dogs through the Delta Society; and one Havanese, YoYo, is a registered Therapy Dog.
YoYo, our very first Havanese, earned her Rally Novice title in September, 2005; she has not yet competed in obedience; which is interesting since we originally intended to train her in obedience and had no intention of showing in conformation. Once we started competing in conformation and learned about the Havanese, we decided we wanted to become breeders -- high quality breeders. We participate in many shows, specialties, seminars, and share information with other quality breeders on a regular basis. We believe in health testing so that we know our breeding dogs are in good health and have the best possible chance to produce healthy puppies who meet the AKC Havanese Standard.
If we do not have a puppy available, we are more than happy to refer you to other breeders who we know are as caring with their Havanese as we are. Please ask questions. Please study the www.Havanese.org web site. Please do not buy from one of those people who just produce puppies to sell even if they do have a lovely web site. Most good breeders will help you find a puppy, and all good breeders are there for you "after the sale".
We sell our puppies on a strict spay/neuter contract. This is not because we don't want other people to breed Havanese; it is because we do not want our puppies sold into the slavery of a puppy mill; because we do not want them indiscriminately bred to "just any other small dog" or even a Havanese. One needs to know the pedigree, the health and structural make-up, the temperament of two dogs before breeding them together.
We are members of the Havanese Club of America, The Windy City Havanese Club, and The Gateway Havanese Club. Mary Anne served as the Co-Chair of the HCA Membership Committee for several years. Mary Anne and Dale have both worked as assistant trainers for obedience classes. Dale has served as President of the Hoosier Kennel Club. Dale served as the 4-H Leader for Dog Training in Hancock County, Indiana for fifteen years.

Nedra Holloway passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday January 15, 2019. She was a 25-year breast cancer survivor, a 6-year heart transplant survivor, but succumbed to lung cancer after a two year battle. Some of Nedra's hobbies include Dairy Goats at 4H, Koi fish, woodworking, gardening, butterflies, and horse back riding. Nedra was the founder of Indy K-9 Kollege in Beech Grove, She had an amazing natural ability to understand and work with animals and their people..
Nedra, was a dear friend and an awesome mentor of dog training. Before I moved out of state in 2010 I visited her and Jim at their home. She showed me their Koi ponds, all of her beautiful flowers & of course I got to see her doggie babies. Nedra was a lady that could do anything, she amazed me. Nedra you will be missed but, never forgotten. Love, Dawn
Stop by and visit us at the dog show. This is our home at the shows; we should be pretty easy to locate *smile*
Below is the front and back of our trailer.
Our show home is large and we are able to bring all of our dogs with us to the shows. We're very happy that we are able to truly spend most of our non-working time with our dogs.
Without Nedra, there never would have been a "Payasa Havanese" She had an amazing talent with all animals. I am very thankful for her friendship and all that we shared over the years. Mary Anne
